A.V. Perkins has spent her career finding ways to turn creativity, curiosity and a little well-placed chaos into experiences people want to be part of.

Long before she picked up a microphone, A.V. spent a decade behind the scenes working in the art department for film and television productions in New York City. Fun fact: The first feature film she ever worked on was Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, where she started as a Production Assistant.

Eventually, her creativity moved from behind the camera to in front of it. Through her DIY and lifestyle brand, A.V. Does What, she built a career creating approachable lifestyle content and appearing on platforms including HGTV, The Drew Barrymore Show and Apartment Therapy. She also put her creativity to the test on HGTV’s Flea Market Flip…and won.

A.V. is also the co-creator of University of Dope, the hip-hop party game, and later developed and hosted its live game-show adaptation. What began as a card game and live events grew into a nationally recognized brand, earning media attention and reaching major retailers. Creating University of Dope gave A.V. an entirely different way to explore something that would become a through line in her career: creating the space for people to have a ridiculously good time.

Then came the microphone.

A.V. found her sweet spot in hosting, where her production background, creativity, comedic instincts and ability to connect with people could all exist in the same place. She served as the Resident Game Show Host aboard Virgin Voyages’ Brilliant Lady during its inaugural season, launching and hosting unscripted game shows and competition formats at sea. Her hosting credits also include Netflix’s Squid Game: The Challenge Season 2 Official Watch Party, Spotify, Spartan Race, Bingo Loco, Nordstrom and live and branded experiences nationwide.

Today, A.V.’s work spans game shows, competition and unscripted formats, lifestyle programming, large scale live events, fan experiences and experiential entertainment. She gravitates toward formats where something is actually happening, there’s a game to play, a challenge to conquer, something to discover or an audience ready to become part of the show.

Beyond entertainment, A.V. is passionate about philanthropy and using her creativity, platform and time to support the communities and cultural spaces she cares about. As her career continues to evolve, so does her commitment to showing up beyond the stage and finding meaningful ways to contribute to the world.

And while hosting may be at the center of her career these days, A.V. is still very much a “Hottie with Hobbies.” She believes a full life should include things you do simply because they make life more interesting. She’s a DIYer at heart, a collector of experiences and someone who will rarely turn down an opportunity to try something new or grab a karaoke mic.

Our lives are our greatest DIY project and A.V. believes life is better when you do it yourself, but games are better when everyone gets to play.
